AYDE: Active Youth Development Exchange

Youth exchange that brings together participants from all over Europe to develop active citizenship skills and create sustainable local initiatives.

All activities within the project were based on the principles of non-formal learning and an experiential approach to working with young people and youth workers. Trainings for people working with young people focused on the development of entrepreneurial, leadership and facilitation competencies through group work, interactive discussions, simulations, reflection exercises and various creative methods that encourage the exchange of knowledge and experiences among participants. The youth exchange provided a space for young people to jointly shape ideas for local initiatives and projects through teamwork, intercultural learning, creative tasks and participatory activities.

Throughout the entire process, the emphasis was on the active involvement of participants, learning through practice and the joint creation of solutions that respond to the challenges of today’s society, with special attention to the values of sustainable development and green transition.

Results of the project

Throughout the implementation period, the project achieved significant and measurable results in accordance with the set goals of strengthening the capacity of youth workers and activating young people. Three main activities were held, two of which were mobilities for people working with young people and one youth exchange. In addition, two preparatory visits (APV) were organized to ensure quality preparation and implementation of the planned activities. A total of 51 youth workers and 30 young participants joined the project, which confirmed the relevance and attractiveness of the program in the partner network.

One of the key results of the project is the improved Impact Entrepreneurship manual, which integrates new methodologies for working with young people in the field of social entrepreneurship and leadership. This ensured that the manual becomes an even more useful tool for organizations and youth workers who want to develop the entrepreneurial and leadership competencies of young people in the context of the green transition. Furthermore, through cooperation with partners, new long-term partnerships have been established, which will enable the continuation of joint initiatives and the development of new projects. A particularly valuable result is the establishment of a new youth organization in Bulgaria, created with the support and mentoring of OAZE and partners, which confirms the impact of the project on the creation of sustainable structures for work with young people in local communities.

Project impact

The impact of the project was achieved on several levels, from strengthening the capacities of organizations and youth workers to empowering young people and creating concrete initiatives in local communities. Through the involvement of 17 partner organizations, their capacities for quality work with youth, implementing non-formal education and using the Erasmus+ program as a tool for local and international development were further developed. Mobility participants transferred their knowledge and experiences to local communities and organized more than 25 dissemination events, promoting the Erasmus+ program and the values of sustainable development in their communities.

The project encouraged young people to take concrete action as two groups of young people have drafted Solidarity project proposals and plan to apply for them in the upcoming period, which will turn their exchange experience into long-term local benefits. The partner organization from Italy further strengthened its members in working with youth by translating the Impact Entrepreneurship manual into Italian, which increased the accessibility of the methodologies developed within the project.

These results clearly show that the project not only improved the individual competences of the participants, but also strengthened organizational capacities, created new opportunities for young people, and contributed to the broader goal of developing social entrepreneurship and leadership as drivers of the green transition in the European youth sector.
